Cambodia knits artisans
I live in Phnom Penh with my parents and I don’t have any children yet. I have been working for Cambodia Knits for 1 year and half now, and I know how to make almost all of the toys. I love to make Beebee, the Lady Bugs , and Pannini the pig in this picture. I’m holding BeeBee and Pannini. I also make new sample toys.
I have four grown children and live in Prek Bangkong, about an hour away from Phnom Penh. Because my children are grown up, I have a lot of free time and am happy to have something to do that earns me a salary at home. Working at Cambodia Knits has given me greater freedom because I don’t need to ask for money from my children anymore and can support myself.
I am Soy Srey Chan from Prey Veng Province where I live with my husband and two children: a daughter,18, in her last year of school and a 9-year-old son.
Sometimes my son is a bit naughty—especially when he wants to play games on my phone.
I have been working for Cambodia Knits for 7 years now, so I know how to make almost all of the toys. The extra money pays for school fees for my children.
